Job summary

ClarityPay seeks a Corporate Counsel to join its burgeoning legal and compliance team. The role centers on commercial contracting with growth into product, compliance, and operations support, offering a path toward in-house generalist leadership in fintech.

The ideal candidate brings a JD, 3+ years of experience (including 2+ years in a law firm), strong contract drafting, and a solid understanding of consumer financial services. This is a hands-on, strategic position based in New York.

Qualifications

• JD from a top-tier law school and a license to practice in good standing in the primary state of residence.
• 3+ years of total legal experience.
• At least 2 years of law firm experience.
• Significant contract drafting and negotiation experience.
• In-depth familiarity with consumer financial services matters.
• Strong legal research skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn and leverage new technology quickly and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Lead drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts with merchants and vendors.
• Support internal stakeholders with legal and compliance questions across business functions.
• Serve as in-house expert on AI tools for legal workflows.
• Provide regulatory advice and risk assessments for new financial products.
• Develop resources for contracting and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate on resolving inquiries and complaints from customers and regulators.
• Contribute to internal policy and process improvements.
• Project-manage key legal and compliance projects.
• Support or own other legal projects as directed by the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer.
