Job summary

ClarityPay is seeking a Product Counsel to join its growing fintech legal team, focusing on regulatory and operational matters and commercial contracting.

This role offers growth, equity, and comprehensive benefits, with a preference for candidates near New York, NY or the Minneapolis–St. Paul metro area. The position reports to the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer and supports cross-functional teams on regulatory matters.

Qualifications

• JD from a top-tier law school and licensed to practice in primary state.
• 7+ years total legal experience with consumer financial services.
• At least 2 years of law firm experience.
• Contract drafting and negotiation experience.
• Strong legal research and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn and leverage AI tools for legal work.

Responsibilities

• Serve as in-house SME on consumer and small business lending regulations.
• Lead regulatory requirements for new product development and implementation.
• Provide regulatory advice and risk assessments for new fintech products.
• Support compliance and customer service with inquiries and regulator interactions.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders on policies, procedures, and processes.
• Project-manage key legal and compliance initiatives.
• Support or own other legal projects as directed by the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer.
