Job summary

Chime is seeking a Business Control Manager to strengthen our first line of defense within Compliance. You will own the control environment for a designated Business Unit, design and validate controls, and partner with product, engineering, legal, and operations to manage regulatory risk.

The role involves evaluating new features for regulatory risk, maintaining control records in our GRC platform, and driving improvements across processes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in regulatory compliance, risk management, or internal controls in fintech/financial services.
• Experience with consumer protection laws (Reg Z, Reg E, UDAAP) and related frameworks.
• Hands-on experience documenting risks, controls, and issues in a GRC platform (AuditBoard, Archer, ServiceNow IRM, LogicGate, or similar).
• Ability to advise product, engineering, risk, and operations teams on regulatory risk and controls.
• Strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills for complex regulatory concepts.

Responsibilities

• Own the control environment for the assigned business unit, maintain the control library, and drive improvements as products/processes change.
• Evaluate new products and changes for regulatory risk before launch; define controls and residual risk summaries.
• Run proactive reviews of processes—risk identification, gap analysis, and control maturity evaluation.
• Map risks to regulatory obligations and maintain records in the GRC platform for visibility and auditability.
• Design preventive, detective, and directive controls with Engineering or Product owners and validate implementation.
• Own the compliance control workstream for incidents: gap analysis, control design, track implementation against SLA, and close the issue.
• Classify control gaps by root cause to surface systemic weaknesses and drive cross-unit recommendations.
• Translate regulatory changes into control impacts and advise the business on adjustments required.
• Perform ongoing reviews of procedures, disclosures, marketing, and complaints to identify compliance risks and corrective actions.
• Build durable relationships with product, engineering, legal, and operations; support audits and regulatory exams.
• Explain controls to partners through working sessions, documentation, and day-to-day partnership.
• Maintain auditable records of risk and control decisions to support governance reporting.
