Job summary

Ottimate is seeking a Backend Engineer to contribute to our new product efforts and help bring ideas to market. Our stack includes Django, Postgres, and AWS, with a focus on planning, shipping, and learning.

You will discuss, plan, build and test features, fix bugs, migrate modules to micro-services, and work with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable fintech solutions for thousands of customers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience with web applications using modern software engineering processes.
• Proficient in Python and Django.
• Debugging complex database performance issues.
• Think critically about your work to improve the product and user experience.
• Built performant and scalable backends with clear tradeoffs.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex topics clearly.
• Proactively diagnose and fix core issues.
• Experience migrating modules to independent micro-services.

Responsibilities

• Discuss, plan, build and test new features.
• Bring learnings from previous roles to fintech innovations for businesses.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and stakeholders on user experience.
• Triage and fix bugs, often working directly with users.
• Manage code reviews and maintain unit tests and quality.
• Help migrate modules into independent micro-services.
• Work on features affecting tens of thousands of customers.
• Experience in an early-stage startup is a plus.
