Job Title: Finishing Operator Job Description

The Finishing Operator trims, inspects, and packages plastic and aluminum parts in accordance with customer specifications, using a variety of hand tools and basic computer applications. This role involves precise manual work, accurate counting and documentation, and consistent adherence to quality and safety standards in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Trim tabs and excess material from plastic and aluminum parts using hand tools such as hobby knives, utility knives, diagonal-cutting pliers, grinders, and sanders.
• Inspect parts visually and by feel to ensure they meet customer specifications and quality standards.
• Measure, trim, sand, polish, and finish parts to achieve the required dimensions and surface quality.
• Assemble and finish parts as needed to complete production orders.
• Count parts accurately and package them according to specific customer and order requirements.
• Enter process and production information into the computer system accurately and in a timely manner.
• Verify that order quantities, labeling, and customer specifications are met before finalizing packaging.
• Use a calculator and basic computer programs to record data and complete documentation.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools and equipment used for trimming and finishing.
• Follow all safety procedures when using hand tools, grinders, sanders, and other equipment.
• Work efficiently and independently while contributing to an overall team-oriented production environment.
• Meet production goals and timelines while maintaining consistent quality and attention to detail.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of experience working in a manufacturing setting.
• Comfortable lifting up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.
• Ability to use hand tools such as hobby knives, utility knives, diagonal-cutting pliers, grinders, and sanders safely and effectively.
• Experience with trimming, sanding, polishing, and finishing parts in a production environment.
• Ability to inspect parts for quality and conformance to specifications.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to use a computer and a calculator for data entry and basic calculations.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with production deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while following established processes and instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience as a machine operator, finishing operator, or in general labor roles within production is beneficial.
• Comfort using computer systems; training will be provided on the specific production system used.
• Familiarity with measuring tools and basic measurement techniques.
• Experience working in a team-oriented production environment.
• Ability to adapt to different shifts and schedules as needed by production demands.

The atmosphere offers a team‑oriented feel, although you will work independently for most of your shift. The position requires comfort in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Multiple shifts are available, including standard weekday daytime hours and extended day or night shifts structured over four days, providing different scheduling options to suit various preferences. Appropriate work attire suitable for a production and manufacturing setting is expected.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plymouth, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.40/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
