Woodgrain is seeking a Fingerjoint Assistant for the 3rd shift at our Fruitland, ID facility to support the Fingerjoint Operator by feeding, grading, and stacking materials to produce a quality finished product.

This hourly role offers stability, a starting pay of $18.00 per hour, and comprehensive company benefits. You will work Sunday through Thursday nights, with overtime and occasional Saturday shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic mechanical abilities required.
• Ability to read or learn to read a tape measure.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Check schedule for grade specifications, length, and quality.
• Complete quality checklist and track production.
• Grade product to meet quality specifications.
• Fill every lug with quality material.
• Assist the operator in performing changeovers.
• Keep accurate piece counts and band units.
• Assist in cutting back reprocessed cut stock using a chop saw.
• Fill in for the Fingerjoint Operator during vacation and absences.
• Assist with the training of new employees.
• Assist with TPM and other projects.

Job Summary

The Fingerjoint Assistant is responsible for supporting the Fingerjoint Operator by safely feeding, grading, and stacking materials through the Fingerjointer to ensure a quality finished product is produced.

Physical Demands

The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical sawmill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Travel

This position does not require travel to other Woodgrain locations.
