Job summary

Woodgrain is seeking a Fingerjoint Assistant in Idaho to support the Fingerjoint Operator by safely feeding, grading, and stacking materials through the Fingerjointer to ensure a quality finished product is produced.

This hourly, full-time position offers a 3:00 pm–11:00 pm shift with overtime and occasional Saturday work. You will work in a sawmill environment with opportunities for training and advancement in a stable manufacturing company.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic mechanical abilities.
• Ability to read or learn to read a tape measure.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Check schedule for grade specifications, length, and quality.
• Complete quality checklist and track production.
• Grade product to meet quality specifications.
• Fill every lug with quality material.
• Assist the operator in performing changeovers.
• Keep accurate piece counts and band units.
• Assist in cutting back reprocessed cut stock using a chop saw.
• Fill in for the Fingerjoint Operator during vacation and absences.
• Assist with the training of new employees.
• Assist with TPM and other projects.

Physical Demands

The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical sawmill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Travel

This position does not require travel to other Woodgrain locations.
