Job summary

The Fedcap NYC Inc. seeks a dedicated financial empowerment specialist to help Jobs-Plus members set personal financial goals, access affordable services, build assets, and manage debt and credit.

The role mentors and guides members based on their career plans. With strong collaboration across Career Development Specialists and community coaches, you will support outreach, engagement, and progress tracking while maintaining confidential records and delivering services flexibly to meet client

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of two (2) years of successful work experience in finance, financial education, financial planning, social work, coaching/mentoring, teaching, or related field.
• Familiarity with social and human services organizations a plus.
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and maintain confidentiality.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience working with public assistance recipients, formerly incarcerated individuals and those affected by poverty.

Responsibilities

• Observe all policies and procedures and attend all required trainings and certifications as scheduled.
• Develop collaborative relationships with local financial institutions.
• Coordinate with Career Development Specialists to assist members in understanding and exploring available financial options.
• Explain benefits of NYCHA rent incentives and Earned Income Tax Credit to members.
• Explain importance of child support, conduct assessments, and make referrals to HRA’s Office of Child Support Services.
• Utilize the Single Stop USA benefit screening platform to determine available benefits and assist members.
• Coordinate with Career Development Specialists regarding financial issues impacting program engagement.
• Provide services flexibly according to member schedules to maintain engagement.
• Coordinate with Career Development Specialists to re-engage members who miss appointments.
• Guide members through a learn-by-doing process during program engagement.
• Document activities, participation, progress, and completion of training in case records and systems.
• Work with Career Development Specialists and Community Coaches to outreach to members who fail to report to appointments.
