Job summary

The Village for Families and Children in Hartford, CT is seeking a Financial Empowerment Specialist to provide case management, financial coaching, and housing assistance within a team dedicated to helping families achieve financial stability.

Requirements include a BA/BS in a related field and at least two years of experience in financial education or counseling with diverse populations. The role supports community partnerships and data reporting.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience as a case manager, individual counselor/coach or group facilitator, preferably in financial education and/or counseling, with diverse population.
• Bachelor's Degree in financial services, human services, or related field preferred; equivalent mix of education/experience acceptable (min six years).

Responsibilities

• Establish rapport with clients to build trust and collaboration toward financial goals.
• Provide one-on-one coaching and case management for housing access and budgeting.
• Coordinate with internal and external partners for comprehensive services.
• Educate and counsel to improve credit scores where needed.
• Help clients participate in Matched Savings Accounts (MSA).
• Apply Motivational Interviewing and coaching techniques with clients.
• Plan outreach to recruit and retain clients; collect and report data as required.
