Job summary

State of Vermont’s Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation seeks a Financial Specialist in the Business Office. You will handle accounts payable and receivable, review vendor invoices, and process payments while assisting with deposits for Vermont State Parks and other revenues.

This full-time limited-service position reports to Montpelier and follows statewide telework guidance. The role requires strong financial reporting, attention to detail, and ability to manage a busy workload with

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent plus three years of accounting or fiscal experience.
• OR vocational/technical training with two years of accounting experience.
• OR Associate's degree with one year of accounting experience.
• OR two years of college coursework with one year of accounting experience.
• OR one year of experience as Financial Specialist II with the State of Vermont.

Responsibilities

• Manages accounts payable and receivable transactions and records.
• Reviews contracts to ensure payments align with provisions.
• Process deposits for Vermont's State Parks and other receivables.
• Audits and reconciles transactions as needed.
• Adjusts coding on payable vouchers as assigned.
• Recommends and refines financial processes and practices.
• Responds to vendor inquiries and provides VTBuys support.
• Opens and processes mail.
• Delivers high-quality financial and administrative services in a team environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
