Job summary

Green Key Resources seeks a Senior Accountant in New York to manage accounting and reporting for a portfolio of financial services clients. You will drive the monthly close, review reconciliations, and prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and FOCUS reports.

The ideal candidate has 3–8 years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks. FINRA Series 27 is a plus, with licensing support if needed, and CPA is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• 3–8 years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Experience with financial services, broker-dealers, investment advisers, funds, or another regulated environment is preferred.
• Active FINRA Series 27 (Financial and Operations Principal) license is a plus.
• Candidates who do not currently hold Series 27 must be willing and qualified to obtain the license and FINRA registration within 12 months.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks.
• CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to independently manage responsibilities and consistently meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Comfortable working directly with clients in a professional services environment.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of accounting and reporting activities for assigned financial services clients.
• Drive the monthly accounting cycle from transaction review through close and financial statement preparation.
• Record and review journal entries and conduct detailed account reconciliations.
• Investigate unusual or complex general ledger activity and provide appropriate analysis.
• Review balance sheet accounts and supporting schedules, including A/R, accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
• Prepare monthly and annual FOCUS reports and also financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Assist broker-dealer clients with regulatory net capital calculations (including 15c3-1).
• Support the preparation of FINRA, SEC, and other applicable regulatory filings.
• Coordinate accounting information and documentation required for year-end audits.
• Assist clients and engagement teams during regulatory examinations.
• Identify accounting and reporting issues and work with clients to develop practical solutions.
• Build strong working relationships with client contacts while ensuring accurate and timely deliverables.
