Job summary

Nextera Search is seeking a Senior Accountant for a leading financial services firm in New York. You will manage the general ledger close processes, prepare journal entries, and maintain books in accordance with U.S.

GAAP. The role requires 5–7 years of accounting experience, familiarity with regulatory capital calculations, and strong Excel skills; you will interact with auditors and help improve reporting accuracy and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of accounting or financial reporting experience, preferably within financial services.
• Experience supporting a regulated financial services organization is required.
• Familiarity with regulatory capital calculations and financial filings.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, and financial controls.
• Relevant industry licensing is preferred or must be obtained following hire.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting and reporting systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
