Phaxis in New York seeks a senior accounting professional to manage day-to-day accounting, close processes, and regulatory reporting for a broker-dealer environment.

You will oversee audits, treasury, payroll, and internal controls while collaborating with senior management to optimize financial operations and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Broker-dealer, clearing firm, or financial services accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • FINOP or broker-dealer regulatory accounting experience highly preferred.
  • Series 27 is a plus; candidates must be willing to obtain the license if required.
  • Experience with FOCUS reporting, net capital requirements, and broker-dealer controls is desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills and QuickBooks or similar platforms required; Dynamics GP a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities including general ledger maintenance and reconciliations.
  • Oversee monthly close process and prepare financial statements and reports.
  • Prepare regulatory financial reporting, including FOCUS filings and net capital calculations.
  • Monitor broker-dealer net capital compliance and financial position.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly management reports on revenue, expenses, performance and trends.
  • Develop forecasts, pro forma statements, and rolling revenue projections.
  • Manage treasury activities: cash, wires, banking reconciliations.
  • Support payroll processing, time/attendance, audits, tax reporting, and reconciliations.
  • Oversee travel/entertainment expense reporting and accounting.
  • Document and enhance accounting policies, procedures, controls.
  • Coordinate financial audits and provide docs for tax filings and audits.
  • Partner with senior management to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
  • Assist with banking relationships and other finance initiatives.

  • ADP Workforce Now and prior payroll administration experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting processes, accounting controls, and general ledger functions.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional business partners.
