Job summary

City Utilities is seeking an Accounting/Finance Intern in Springfield, MO. The role supports the Financial Reporting team with basic accounting duties, asset records, and monthly/quarterly reporting. Schedule is 20–25 hours per week during school terms and up to 40 hours in summer.

Applicants should be a full-time student, pursuing Accounting/Finance, with at least one year of college and at least 3 accounting credits. Proficiency in Office and PeopleSoft is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum completion of one year of college required.
• Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business from an accredited college.
• At least three credit hours of accounting courses required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting docs for asset-related activity.
• Process fixed asset capitalization in PeopleSoft for approved projects.
• Maintain asset records in PeopleSoft and related systems.
• Assist with SaaS/SBITA accounting treatment and IT subscriptions.
• Support monthly financial reports and management presentations.
• Assist with year-end audit activities and verify figures against source docs.
