Job summary

Brevard County Board of County Commissioners in Rockledge is seeking an experienced payroll paraprofessional for the Fire Rescue Finance Section. This full-time role handles time entry, post-payroll processing, payroll journals, and invoice reviews, while maintaining filing systems and responding to payroll inquiries.

A bachelor's degree is required in business, public administration, accounting or related field; HIPAA certification within 60 days; FEMA NIMS courses; CJIS background check; and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
• Must obtain HIPAA Compliance certification within 60 days of employment and maintain it during the term of employment.
• Must complete FEMA NIMS ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700, and ICS-800 training within one year of employment.
• Must pass CJIS background check as administered by Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

Responsibilities

• Handles time entry, post-payroll, payroll journals, corrections, and manual updates.
• Examines, analyzes, and verifies invoices, bills, and vouchers; assists in preparing and monitoring budgets.
• Creates and maintains filing systems for payroll, invoices, billing statements, and other financial documents.
• Responds to payroll and accounts payable inquiries; resolves complex customer-related issues for internal and external customers.
