Job summary

Brevard County is seeking a paraprofessional to manage payroll-related processes within the Fire Rescue Finance Section. The role involves time entry, post-payroll, invoices and budgeting tasks, with standard hours 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday, and occasional evenings or weekends as needed.

Required are a Bachelor's degree in a related field and mandatory certifications (HIPAA; FEMA NIMS ICs-100/200/700/800; CJIS background check) with disaster duties possible during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
• Must obtain HIPAA Compliance certification within 60 days of employment and maintain it during employment.
• Must complete FEMA NIMS ICs-100, ICs-200, ICs-700, and ICs-800 within one year of employment.
• CJIS background check required by Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
• In a hurricane or disaster, employee may be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

Responsibilities

• Performs experienced paraprofessional work planning, organizing, and coordinating projects relating to the Fire Rescue Finance Section.
• Responsible for routine payroll duties including time entry, post-payroll, payroll journals, corrections, and manual updates; examine, analyze, and verify invoices, bills, and vouchers.
• Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets and maintaining filing systems for payroll, invoices, billing statements, and other financial documents.
• Respond to payroll and accounts payable inquiries and resolve complex customer-related issues for internal and external customers.
