Starr Specialty Lines Insurance Agency, LLC is seeking a knowledgeable Financial Lines Underwriter to join our underwriting team in Alpharetta, GA. You will evaluate, select, and manage professional liability risks in line with company guidelines and delegated authority.

The role requires strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills, with collaboration across claims, actuarial, and loss control to drive profitability and client service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in insurance, risk management, business, or a related field.
• 2+ years of Financial Lines underwriting experience preferred; experience in allied lines a plus.
• Solid understanding of professional liability insurance products, coverage structures, and rating methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Risk Assessment: Analyze and evaluate new and renewal submissions for various Financial Lines Underwriting.
• Decisions: Determine risk acceptability, pricing, coverage terms, and conditions within delegated authority, adhering to company guidelines and risk appetite.
• Portfolio Management: Effectively manage a book of business to achieve profitability and growth targets.
• Broker Relationship: Build and maintain successful broker relationships through responsive communication, excellent service, and market knowledge.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the claims, actuarial, and loss control teams to monitor trends and ensure sound underwriting practices.
• Documentation: Prepare and issue policy documentation, endorsements, and quotes accurately and efficiently.
• Business Development: Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the professional liability portfolio in alignment with company strategy.
• Continuous Learning: Stay current with industry developments, coverage trends, and regulatory requirements.
