Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 2–5 years of underwriting experience in specialty, surplus lines, or commercial insurance.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment, policy wording, and guidelines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review, evaluate, and underwrite submissions involving special and hard‑to‑place risks.
• Analyze client exposures, assess risk quality, and determine terms, pricing, and coverage.
• Engage with brokers, agents, and clients to develop innovative program structures for non‑traditional risks.
• Structure and negotiate complex special risk accounts, endorsements, and renewals.
• Monitor portfolio performance and align with Starr’s risk appetite and targets.
• Collaborate with claims, risk control, legal, and internal teams for holistic solutions.
• Maintain meticulous documentation and data integrity in underwriting systems.
• Stay current with emerging trends and regulatory developments in specialist markets.
