Job summary

DHRM in Harrisonburg seeks a Fiscal Technician to provide detailed fiscal support, recording and balancing financial activities in accordance with DOC/DOA policies. This wage position is limited to 1,500 hours per year (May 1–April 30) and averages no more than 29 hours per week, with no state benefits.

Candidates should possess basic accounting/bookkeeping knowledge, Excel/Word skills, data entry ability, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform detailed work with numerical data and to make calculations rapidly and accurately.
• Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and office equipment.
• Demonstrated skill in inputting data into an automated database.
• Ability to provide information and communicate effectively (oral and written) with employees and staff.
• Ability to interpret and follow prescribed operating instructions and related policies, procedures and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provides fiscal support to accurately record and balance all financial activities.
• Review, analyze, and process a range of data and reports in accordance with DOC and DOA policies and procedures.
