Job summary

Trinity Health in Des Moines, IA seeks a data-driven professional to support patient access analytics and revenue cycle improvements. You will research information, analyze trends, develop practical solutions and lead improvements that impact patient experience and operational efficiency.

The role requires 2–3 years in hospital patient access or patient accounting, basic billing/coding knowledge, and a HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification within one year of hire.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years experience in Patient Access or Patient Accounting for hospital.
  • Understanding of basic billing and coding.
  • Certification in HFMA CRCR and/or NAHAM CHAA within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, collects and analyzes information to identify opportunities and develop solutions.
  • Leads through resolution and collaborates on performance improvement activities.
  • Distributes analytical reports and prepares data presentations to support leadership decisions.
  • Maintains knowledge of policies, confidentiality and safety in the department.

Work Focus: Researches, collects & analyzes information. Identifies opportunities, develops solutions, & leads through resolution. Process Focus: Utilizes multiple system applications to perform analysis, create reports & develop educational materials. Demonstrates knowle dge of departmental processes & procedures & ability to readily acquire new knowledge.

Data Management & Analysis: Research & compiles information to support ad - hoc operational projects & initiatives. Synthesizes & analyzes data & provides detailed summaries including graphical data presentations illustrating trends & recommending practical options or solutions while considering the impact on business strategy & supporting leadership decision making. Leverages program & operational data & measurements to define & demonstrate progress, ROI & impacts.

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, state & local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity &
Compliance Program & Code of Conduct, as well as other policies, procedures & guidelines in order to ensure
adherence in a manner that reflects safe, honest, ethical & profe ssional behavior & safe work practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum two (2) to three (3) years experience working in Patient Access or Patient Accounting for hospital
  • Obtain National certification in HFMA CRCR and/or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.
  • Understanding of basic billing and coding.
Additional Qualifications (nice to have)
  • Epic experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal or state government agencies including but not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, VA or Charity
  • Care programs, or patient management and healthcare accounts receivable within the healthcare revenue cycle.
  • Registration and / or hospital reimbursement services
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • This position operates in a typical office environment. The area is well lit, temperature controlled and free from hazards.
  • Incumbent communicates frequently, in person and over the phone, with people in all locations on support issues.
  • Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate a keyboard, repetitive actions, fine manipulations and simple grasping. Speech and hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communication.
  • Ability to see at near visual acuity. The incumbent is subject to eyestrain due to the many hours spent looking at a CRT screen. The noise level is low to moderate.
  • Must be able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to them as they change frequently.
  • Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles.
  • In a normal workday, colleague must be able to sit and walk throughout the day.
  • Job requires occasional lifting/carrying approximately 15 pounds and / or pushing patients in wheelchair up to 440 pounds.
  • Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.
