About the Opportunity

The Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM) is a national mathematical sciences institute funded by the National Science Foundation that brings together approximately 1,000 researchers to collaborate on computational research. ICERM is supported and managed by 14 full‑time professional staff and 9 directors, with funding renewed through 2030. ICERM is located at Brown University.

Responsibilities
  • Perform financial transactions primarily in Workday.
  • Maintain current knowledge of, interpret, and apply applicable University policies and federal and grant guidelines.
  • Use the Brown Chart of Accounts and follow policies and protocols related to transaction coding and approval.
  • Provide high‑level customer service and respond to requests promptly.
  • Serve as a grant‑funded position with an end date of August 31, 2030, and potential renewal dependent on funding and university needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 1‑2years of related experience, or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
  • Experience in an academic setting preferred.
Job Competencies
  • Proficient in financial reporting and spreadsheet applications with attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Customer service experience and a service‑mindful philosophy.
  • Ability to problem‑solve and troubleshoot issues when appropriate.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast‑paced, multi‑faceted work environment.
