Grants and Financial Coordinator – Brown University

Position located in the Office of the Dean of the Faculty, Grade 8, full‑time.

Hybrid/remote eligible. Scheduled weekly hours: 37.5.

Job Description

The Grants and Financial Coordinator provides administrative pre‑ and post‑award and financial services to the Department Manager, Chair, Graduate Students, Postdocs, Research Track Faculty, and Tenure Track Faculty who are Principal Investigators (PIs). The role includes assisting in the preparation and review of all grant proposals, coordinating submissions, managing sponsored research funding, ensuring compliance with award terms, providing budget management, expenditure review, financial reporting, and participation in training.

Major Responsibilities
  • Coordinate pre‑award activity and provide pre‑award grant support to PIs.
  • Provide post‑award sponsored research management, advise and assistance, and oversee spending on all grant accounts.
  • Provide Workday financial support with financial reporting, summer salary, effort certification, and payroll costing.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience, with preference for degrees in Accounting, Finance, Public Health, Biology, Health Science, Science, Engineering, or Math.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and time‑management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Gmail, Google applications, FileMaker, Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Flexible, service‑oriented and resourceful.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • File management skills.
  • Willingness and interest to continue learning.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a deadline‑oriented environment.
