Washington County Mental Health Services (WCMHS) seeks a Financial Controller to oversee all accounting functions with the CFO, Assistant CFO, and senior management. You will ensure financial integrity, timely reporting, and effective operations to support community services.

The role requires strong accounting and supervisory experience, plus proficiency in Sage Intacct and Paycom HRIS. Located in Vermont, the position offers a competitive salary range and a comprehensive benefits package

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with strong accounting training.
• Minimum five years of related accounting experience.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to interpret complex financial documents and present findings to management.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end closing process and related journal entries.
• Lead annual audit coordination and provide supporting documentation.
• Perform reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial statements.
• Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee accounting software management and upgrades.
• Represent the agency in internal/external meetings with professionalism.

Financial ControllerWCMHS is seeking a Controller to oversee all accounting functions of the agency. With the Assistant CFO, CFO, and Senior Management Teams you will build and maintain critical trusted relationships with leadership and external business associates.This position ensures the financial integrity of the agency by managing accurate financial records, timely reporting, and effective accounting operations that support the organization's core mission. Well-run finance and administrative departments help our teams providing services focus more on the community and less on chasing down accounting questions.Summary of DutiesManage the month end closing process.Prepares for and leads the annual audit.Conduct and analyze account reconciliations monthly.Full understanding of the Accounting functions of WCMHS and ability to review, analyze and verify the accuracy of financial statements and documents of the agency.Attend internal and external agency meetings and represent WCMHS accurately and professionally.Accounting software management for the Agency.Run, review, and analyze financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.Compensation and BenefitsThe starting salary range for this position is between $107,000 and $112,000 commensurate with experience and education.WCMHS provides a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and retirement contribution matching. Our industry-leading paid time off package includes 12.5 flexible holidays and 12 days each of sick vacation days accumulated in year one of employment.Sample of Qualifications and SkillsBachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting or related field with extensive accounting training, along with a minimum of five years of related experience and/or training.Previous supervisory experience is preferred.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, and make effective presentations to senior management, employees, or funding sources.Strong computer literacy including Excel, Word, and Outlook, with knowledge of or ability to learn Sage Intacct Accounting Software and Paycom HRIS.Good organizational skills and effective people skills are essential.Ability to maintain confidentiality is critical.Direct supervision experience of the Accounting Supervisor and Accounting Clerk.Working ConditionsThe work is usually done in an office setting with a quiet noise level, requiring an employee to regularly sit, walk, stand, talk, hear, and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds with close vision and adjustable focus.About the AgencyFor more than 50 years, Washington County Mental Health Services (WCMHS) has served the Washington County community and the Orange County towns of Orange, Washington, and Williamstown.
