Job summary

Johnson Matthey is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our finance team in a key plant-focused role. You will lead budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning for cost centres, with emphasis on headcount and people costs, while delivering insightful variance analyses and robust cost reporting.

You will partner across operations and finance to identify trends, risks and opportunities, review production costs and standard cost allocations, and enhance dashboards and performance metrics

Qualifications

• University degree and professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA/CIMA).
• Experience in management accounting, cost analysis and financial planning in manufacturing.
• Understanding of production costing, variance analysis and financial performance drivers.

Responsibilities

• Support budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning for plant cost centres, including headcount and people costs.
• Provide timely variance analysis, cost reporting and forecasting insights during month-end close.
• Deliver clear management reporting on production and overhead costs, including Monthly Operating Report submissions.
• Partner with plant operations and finance to identify trends, risks and opportunities through detailed analysis.
• Review production costs, standard cost allocations and cost variances to support improved business performance.
• Build relationships across operational, commercial and technical teams to support accurate financial reporting.
• Maintain and enhance financial reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to improve visibility into business results.
• Support cash forecasting and liquidity planning through analysis of working capital and operational performance.
• Prepare complex Excel financial reports utilizing high proficiency in Excel and data analytics.

Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst Location: Devon PA. At Johnson Matthey, your work will matter.

The role:

• Support budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning activities for plant cost centres, including headcount and people costs.

Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:

• University degree qualification and a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Strong experience in management accounting, cost analysis and financial planning within manufacturing.
• Understanding of production costing, variance analysis and financial performance drivers.
• Ability to challenge constructively, influence stakeholders and provide actionable business insights.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience within the chemicals, automotive or related industrial sectors would be advantageous.
