Job Description

Assist financial aid coordinator in all financial aid functions and provide quality customer service to all internal and external customers.

Required Qualifications

Associate degree, and related work experience required. Previous financial aid experience or similar work experience preferred. Must possess initiative, sound decision making and problem-solving skills and have high attention to detail. Strong computer skills are necessary. The ability to establish and maintain good working relationships, work independently, and use discretion in handling information is essential. Must have strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. A firm commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provide a high level of customer support to students and other internal and external customers in person, via phone or virtually.
  2. Ability to understand, interpret and apply complex federal regulations regarding student eligibility for financial aid.
  3. Ability to utilize a variety of software products, analyze reports and navigate federal websites to monitor and determine student eligibility while maintaining a high level of student confidentiality.
  4. Assist students and families with FAFSA completion, general FAFSA questions and completion of required financial aid forms.
  5. Retrieve ISIR data, generate student files and monitor completeness as required by federal, state, and district regulations.
  6. Verify selected financial aid files, resolve data discrepancies reported on student ISIRs and transmit and receive electronic corrections.
  7. Meet with students related to the loan process and counsel them on borrowing and provide entrance and exit counseling when necessary.
  8. Process and transmit student loan requests in accordance with federal, state, and district regulations.
  9. Assist with the implementation of the EICC's Satisfactory Academic Progress guidelines and work with students that utilize the appeal process, including activities that support the preparation of appeals for the Dean of Student Development.
  10. Provide assistance with the Federal Work-Study program including performing activities that support students with payroll set up, communication with supervisors and tracking of expenditure levels.
  11. Ability to understand and communicate student eligibility regarding State Financial Aid Programs.
  12. Work with potential, current, and former students and provide them with basic default management information.
  13. Give financial aid presentations to on-campus and off-campus groups, and to EICC students in the classroom and virtually.
  14. Committed to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of internal and external customers.
