Job summary

First Command is seeking a Financial Accountant to join the Financial Accounting team in Fort Worth, TX. You will support the monthly close by recording, classifying and reporting on business transactions with GAAP discipline and attention to accuracy.

You will prepare journal entries, reconcile balance sheets, perform variance analysis, and collaborate with auditors and cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and reliable financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2–4 years of accounting experience or 1–2 years with a master's degree.
• CPA preferred, but not required.
• Familiar with GAAP concepts, practices and procedures.
• Strong integrity and ethics; ability to handle confidential information.
• Detail-oriented with deadline discipline and ability to think strategically.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end close and prepare journal entries.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts per FC standards.
• Perform variance analysis and investigate unusual transactions.
• Provide financial analysis to management.
• Coordinate with internal/external auditors and auditors.
• Collaborate across finance teams on ad hoc reporting.
