Job summary

First Command is seeking a Financial Accountant to support the monthly close by recording, classifying and analyzing transactions and preparing timely financial reports. You will work with cross-functional teams and auditors to ensure GAAP compliance and accurate financial statements.

Responsibilities include journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliation, ad hoc analysis, and process improvements across accounting systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required or Master’s degree with relevant experience.
• 2–4 years of experience required, or 1–2 years with a Master’s degree.
• CPA preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end close activities including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare standard and ad-hoc journal entries as required.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts in accordance with GAAP.
• Perform analytical procedures and investigate variances.
• Provide financial analysis to management and other users of financial information.
• Assist with audits and prepare audit work papers and schedules as required.
• Work cross-functionally with other teams (Accounts Payable/Receivable, Treasury, FP&A).
• Assist with updates of policies and procedures documentation.
