Job summary

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield in Baltimore seeks an entry-level accountant under supervision to perform basic financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting from the General Ledger.

Responsibilities include monthly reconciliations, timely journal entries with supporting documentation, special projects, and aiding audits; requires Bachelor in Accounting/Finance or 4 years relevant experience; CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field OR an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in addition to required work experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and accounting software.
• Proficient with user interface and query software (MS Access).
• Proficient with ERP software (Oracle PeopleSoft).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Verify general ledger data and maintain monthly reconciliations/ analyses.
• Prepare monthly journal entries with supporting documentation.
• Conduct special projects and simple analyses to verify data integrity.
• Support audits and improve departmental effectiveness through documentation and cross-training.
