Job summary

RGP is seeking a Finance Process Documentation Consultant to capture and document complex financial data and processes across multiple functions. You will interview stakeholders, trace data flows, and translate workflows into clear written and visual deliverables.

The role focuses on uncovering undocumented processes, establishing current‑state documentation, and supporting governance and automation initiatives. Remote, 3‑month contract with potential future phases.

Qualifications

• Experience documenting complex finance processes and translating stakeholder knowledge into written and visual deliverables.
• Ability to read and understand SQL queries and data transformations to identify source data, logic, and outputs.
• Experience creating or modifying SQL is a plus.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, data analysis, lookups and data transformation logic.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to trace data across systems.
• Experience developing process maps, workflow diagrams, SOPs, or current‑state assessments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Consulting mindset with ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Map and document end‑to‑end finance and business processes across multi‑functional teams.
• Interview stakeholders to capture workflows, ownership and controls.
• Trace data from source systems through transformations and handoffs.
• Review SQL scripts, spreadsheets, lookups, and data processes.
• Identify undocumented procedures, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Create detailed documentation and process maps communicating current state.
• Develop user‑friendly narratives, workflows and diagrams using Lucidchart, Visio, Google Workspace or Office.
• Deliver documentation for future transformation initiatives.
• Partner with finance, operations and stakeholders to establish current‑state views.
