Job summary

Horton’s Kids, Inc. is seeking a Finance & Operations Manager to oversee daily finance, HR, and operations. The role balances accounting with HR, maintaining payroll, grants, and monthly close while improving systems and processes. Report to the COO and work across teams and partners to support youth and families.

The position is full-time at Horton’s Hub with two remote days per week and in-office requirements on most weekdays. Requires DC area residency and nonprofit finance experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, human resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• At least 5 years of nonprofit finance, operations, HR, or accounting experience, including grant management.
• Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, grant fund management, and compliance.
• Experience payroll processing and benefits administration through an HRIS or payroll platform.
• Strong Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks Online preferred).

Responsibilities

• Develop grant budgets in collaboration with the Development team.
• Coordinate financial reporting with external accountants and funder guidelines.
• Prepare grant reimbursement requests and funder invoices, monitor funds receipt.
• Assist with financial reports for funders and audits.
