Job summary

BMO Financial Group is seeking a Senior Manager, Operational Risk Officer to lead second-line oversight of the Finance risk management practices, controls, and remediation activities. The role collaborates with senior leaders across lines of business and corporate functions, providing independent challenge and strategic risk insight.

The ideal candidate brings extensive risk or finance experience, strong accounting/finance foundations, and the ability to influence executive-level decisions.

Qualifications

• Typically 7+ years of relevant experience in risk or finance.
• In-depth knowledge of operational risk management practices.
• Experience with regulatory requirements and governance.
• CPA designation viewed as a strong asset.
• Ability to independently form risk-based opinions and challenge senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and reporting on operational risks for a designated portfolio.
• Develop and monitor risk management framework and governance practices across BMO.
• Produce reports and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.
• Influence and negotiate to achieve business objectives.
• Identify emerging risks and trends to inform decision-making.
• Lead development of strategic initiatives and remediation efforts.
• Ensure alignment between stakeholders and governance requirements.
• Maintain information systems supporting risk programs (RCSA, SOX).
• Serve as subject matter expert for regulatory audits/examinations.
