Job summary

Troutman Pepper Locke LLP is seeking a Finance Manager to lead the finance team, deliver timely reporting and analytics, and support the firm’s strategic planning. The role requires deep accounting knowledge, FP&A experience, and strong leadership in a professional services environment.

The position emphasizes automation, KPI refinement, and collaboration with Accounting and IT to improve data quality and insights across offices and practice groups.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of progressive experience in finance, FP&A, or related analytics.
• Four+ years of managing or supervising analysts.
• Advanced proficiency in financial analysis, internal reporting, and variance analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, formulas) and experience with ERP/GL, Power BI/Tableau.
• Experience with time & billing systems; familiarity with law firm or professional services economics is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication; high integrity and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Support development and execution of the firm’s financial strategy with models and trend analyses.
• Translate strategic priorities into operational plans, reports and analytics.
• Prepare materials and analysis for senior leadership discussions, including dashboards and executive summaries.
• Manage day-to-day activities of the finance team and ensure timely, consistent work.
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members.
• Oversee recurring internal reports for firmwide performance, practice group, client segment, and offices.
• Develop and maintain tools/dashboards to improve KPI visibility and automation of reporting.
• Lead financial planning cycle activities including annual budgets and reforecasts.
• Prepare and review monthly and quarterly variance analyses versus budget and forecast.
• Develop models to forecast revenue, expense, headcount, and productivity metrics.
• Define and track KPIs for firm-wide performance and practice groups.
• Analyze profitability, matter economics, staffing mix, leverage, and cost drivers.
• Provide working capital analyses and cash flow improvement actions.
• Lead finance transformation and data improvements with IT and data teams.
• Act as a point of contact for leadership on financial reporting matters.
