Job summary

Dan and Jerry’s Greenhouses in Monticello, MN seeks a hands-on Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting in a horticulture business.

Reporting to the CFO, you will manage GL, payroll, inventory and internal controls, deliver timely statements, drive process improvements, and coordinate audits. You’ll build the accounting team and partner with leadership to improve profitability and cash flow.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• CPA or CMA desired, not required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with increasing responsibility.
• 2+ years of Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or comparable leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (GL, AP, AR, payroll).
• Ensure accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end statements.
• Manage month-end/year-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Maintain GAAP compliance and internal controls.
• Coordinate audits, tax work, and external reviews.
• Lead ERP data integration and process improvements.
