Job summary

Chittenden Solid Waste District seeks a Controller to oversee the finance department with an annual budget of $16 million. The Controller will manage accounting, budget preparation, financial controls, payroll, receivables, and reporting, leading three staff and supporting program managers in financial management.

Applicants should have seven years' experience including three years in supervision; master’s degree or CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting or finance required.
• Seven years of experience including three years in supervision.
• Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred; governmental accounting experience a plus.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and NetSuite preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the finance department for the CSWD.
• Prepare and organize the annual budget.
• Manage accounting systems and financial records.
• Monitor expenditures and cash flow; payroll, receivables.
• Ensure financial reporting and compliance.
• Lead and develop an internal staff of three.
