Job summary

The Chittenden Solid Waste District is seeking a Controller to oversee the finance department of a countywide municipal organization with an annual budget of $16 million. The Controller will manage accounting, budgeting, payroll, receivables, financial reporting, and compliance, and will lead a small staff of three.

Flexible hours are offered with a full-time or part-time schedule. Salary starts at $95,000 and goes to $110,000, with an excellent benefits package.

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting or finance with seven years of experience, including three years of supervisory experience.
• Master’s degree and/or CPA and governmental accounting experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and NetSuite preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the finance department of a countywide municipal organization.
• Manage accounting, financial operations, budgeting, controls, and cash flow.
• Prepare the annual budget, financial reporting, and compliance.
• Lead a staff of three and support program managers in financial management.
