Job summary

Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates in New York is seeking a Senior Manager of Business Development for Finance to drive strategic BD initiatives in a hybrid role. You will advise partners, shape client strategy, and elevate the firm’s profile within Private Credit, Structured Finance, and related sectors.

The role requires 7+ years in legal marketing and BD, with strong leadership, client relationships, and experience leveraging industry research databases to identify growth

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or JD preferred.
• Minimum of 7+ years marketing and business development experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
• Experience with legal-research databases and resources (e.g., S&P Capital IQ, Refinitiv, Bloomberg, DealPointData, Pitchbook and EDGAR).
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work with CRM, Foundation, and MS Office tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with client-service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Lead pitches, RFP responses, practice credentials, and profile-raising initiatives to win new work.
• Define and implement BD plans in collaboration with practice leadership.
• Coordinate with Marketing, Communications, Events and Strategy teams to execute initiatives.
• Drive cross-selling and pipeline development for the Finance practice across the Firm.
• Mentor BD team members and manage budgets, ROI tracking, and performance metrics.
• Monitor market trends, league tables, and client activity to inform strategy.
