Job summary

Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in New York City seeks a Senior Manager, Business Development (Finance) to join the Transactional BD team. This hybrid role partners with practice leaders to drive strategic marketing initiatives and client engagement.

You will coach lawyers, coordinate with Marketing, Events, and Strategic Intelligence, and develop cross‑selling opportunities across Private Credit and Structured Finance sectors.

Qualifications

• Current knowledge of industry best practices, trends, and techniques for relevant practice areas.
• Experience with legal-research / legal-news databases and resources (e.g., S&P Capital IQ, Refinitiv, Bloomberg, DealPointData, Pitchbook and EDGAR).
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience with CRM, Foundation, and other Marketing and Financial databases and knowledge of relevant Firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrates close attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
• Ability to demonstrate exceptional client service and build rapport with partners.
• Demonstrates strong organizational and project management skills, including independent judgment.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Works with BD leadership to enhance client relationships and identify new opportunities.
• Leads pitches, RFP responses, credentials, and profile-raising initiatives.
• Supports cross-selling opportunities and pipeline development across finance sector practices.
• Coaches lawyers and coordinates with Marketing, Events, and Strategy teams.
• Drives revenue initiatives and tracks ROI on BD activities.
• Manages matter experience and coordinates with cross-border BD leads.
