Job summary

University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a Finance Associate for the Finance Hub on East Campus in Lincoln, NE. The role involves executing a broad range of financial transactions and supporting faculty, staff, and students with travel, purchasing, and reporting tasks.

After an onsite training period, a hybrid schedule may be available with up to two remote days per week, subject to supervisor approval and operations needs. Sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years related finance or accounting work experience.
• Experience or training in Microsoft applications.
• Willingness and ability to learn new hardware and software systems.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA and FERPA rules.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships and meet deadlines.

Description Of Work

The Finance Hub within the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources is a collaborative team providing specialized business services that advance the teaching, research, and extension missions of our partner units.

As a Finance Associate, you will execute and support a wide range of financial transactions.

Responsibilities Include

• Assisting faculty, staff, and students with travel processes, including authorizations, booking, expense reimbursements, and related requests.
• Supporting purchasing and procurement, including P-Card and eShop purchases, documentation review, compliance checks, and payment processing.
• Preparing accounts payable (A/P) transactions, including direct payments, reimbursements, documentation, and approval routing.
• Maintaining financial records and assisting with financial reporting.
• Providing responsive customer service and guidance to faculty, staff, and students.

This position is located on UNL’s East Campus in Lincoln, NE.

Following an initial onsite training period of up to six months, this position may becomeeligible for a hybrid work schedule with up to two remote day(s) per week. All hybrid arrangements are subject to supervisor approval and are determined based on operational needs.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years related finance or accounting work experience. Additional years of completed relevant education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
• Experience or training in Microsoft applications.
• A willingness and demonstrated ability to learn new hardware and software systems.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines on the disclosure of information.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships within and outside of reporting lines.
• Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but not required:

• Experience performing finance tasks in a business setting.
• Experience functioning in a team environment.
• Experience with SAP or large integrated finance system.
• Knowledge of finance terminology and practices.
• Knowledge of federal and state laws and guidelines related to business practices.
