Job summary

CDFW’s Department of Fish and Wildlife seeks four Student Assistants in Sacramento for part-time, temporary roles. Under supervision, you will review invoices, audit vouchers, and support FI$Cal processes while gaining exposure to government accounting workflows.

Must be enrolled half-time in Accountancy, MIS, Finance, or Business Administration and have MS Office proficiency; position is non-benefited and based in California.

Qualifications

• Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term.
• Enrolled at least six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduates; four-semester units or six quarters for graduates.
• Major must match listed fields (Accountancy, MIS, Finance, Business Administration).
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in processing invoices and vouchers for payment, auditing all documents and ensuring compliance with government codes and SAM requirements.
• Prepare claim schedules according to SCO auditing requirements.
• Assist in posting transactions in FI$Cal.
• Assist with scanning claim schedules, filing, data downloading, and proper records management.
• Provide assistance and respond to inquiries regarding vouchers or claim schedules.
• Assist in Special Projects – Purchase Order review and approval within FI$Cal.
• Assist in year-end accruals or projects.
• Assist in the preparation of ASB memos.
