Our client, a well-established real estate investment, development, and management firm, seeks an experienced Accounting Manager in New York. You will oversee day-to-day accounting, month-end close, internal controls, and team development while partnering with development, asset management, investments, and operations teams.

The role offers broad exposure across the real estate business and a hands-on, collaborative environment reporting to the Controller.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Experience with multi-entity, intercompany, and consolidated accounting.
  • Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or developing accounting professionals.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP or accounting systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with both accounting and non-accounting professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities including general ledger, AP/AR, treasury, and cash management.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and variances.
  • Oversee accounting for multiple entities and intercompany transactions.
  • Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve processes.
  • Mentor and develop accounting team members; coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals.
  • Partner cross-functionally with development, asset management, investments, and operations.
  • Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow analyses, and financial planning initiatives.
  • Support special projects and provide financial analysis to senior management.

We are partnering with a well-established real estate investment, development, and management firm seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its New York office.

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will play a key role in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close, internal controls, and the continued development of the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and variance analyses
  • Oversee accounting for multiple entities, including intercompany transactions and consolidated reporting
  • Maintain strong accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, strengthen controls, and improve or automate accounting processes
  • Manage, mentor, and develop accounting team members while promoting accuracy, accountability, and professional growth
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and other third-party service providers
  • Partner cross-functionally with development, asset management, investment, and operations teams
  • Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow analysis, and other financial planning initiatives
  • Support special projects and provide accounting and financial analysis to senior management as needed
  • Help enhance accounting systems, reporting capabilities, and processes as the organization continues to grow
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close
