PositionOverview
Ourclient, a well-established and growing real estate investment company, isseeking an Accounting Manager (CPA preferred) to join its finance leadershipteam. This position offers a unique blend of corporate accounting, realestate property accounting, and fund accounting responsibilities whileproviding direct supervisory responsibility and exposure to executiveleadership.
TheAccounting Manager will serve as a key leader within the accounting function,overseeing the monthly close process, managing a team of accountingprofessionals, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, and drivingprocess improvements across multiple real estate investment entities andfunds.
KeyResponsibilities
- Lead and develop a team ofapproximately three accounting professionals responsible for corporate,property, and fund accounting activities.
- Manage the month-end,quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accuratefinancial reporting.
- Review and approve journalentries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedulesprepared by the accounting staff.
- Provide technical accountingguidance related to real estate investments, property operations, andinvestment fund structures.
- Oversee general ledger activitiesand ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and companyaccounting policies.
- Perform and review detailedbalance sheet reconciliations, account analyses, flux analysis, andbudget-to-actual variance reporting.
- Partner with executive managementand operational leaders to provide financial insights, identify trends,and support strategic decision-making.
- Manage cash managementactivities, including cash flow forecasting, investment reconciliations,and liquidity analysis.
- Ensure accurate recording andreporting of revenues, expenses, capital expenditures, and investmentactivity across multiple entities.
- Assist with the preparation offinancial statements, investor reporting packages, audit schedules, andregulatory reporting requirements.
- Act as a key liaison withexternal auditors, tax advisors, and other professional serviceproviders.
- Evaluate and improve accountingprocesses, internal controls, and reporting efficiencies throughautomation and technology enhancements.
- Leverage ERP systems and advancedExcel functionality to streamline workflows, improve reportingcapabilities, and support data-driven decision making.
- Participate in systemimplementations, upgrades, and special projects related to financialreporting and accounting operations.
- Communicate financial results andoperational performance metrics to management through clear andeffective presentations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting,Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation stronglypreferred.
- Minimum of 2+ years of publicaccounting experience plus 1-3+ years of progressive accountingexperience within private industry.
- Previous experience supervisingor mentoring accounting staff preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP,financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
- Advanced Excel skills, includingcomplex formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling.
- Excellent communication,presentation, and leadership abilities with the ability to interacteffectively across all levels of the organization.
