Job summary

American Electric Power in Columbus, OH is seeking an Accounting & Finance Intern to support the accounting team in preparing financial statements, maintaining records, and assisting with month-end and year-end close. You’ll participate in technology-driven transformation projects and collaboration.

The internship spans 10-12 weeks onsite in Columbus/area, with a housing stipend potentially provided for moves over 45 miles; prefers students in Accounting or Finance with strong Excel and detail

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and the Office suite.
• Familiarity with accounting software.
• Excellent attention to detail and organization.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
• Help maintain accurate financial records and databases.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Participate in the reconciliation of accounts.
• Conduct data analysis and assist with budgeting activities and support technology driven transformation projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the accounting team.
