Job summary

AEP is offering an electrical engineering internship in Columbus, Ohio. You’ll learn from industry leaders, gain hands-on experience on projects that impact the grid of the future, and participate in mentorship and training programs tailored for growth.

Housing stipend of $1,500/month is provided for moves over 45 miles.Duration is 10–12 weeks, with pay commensurate with education hours and eligibility for EWYL benefits as you continue your studies.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in an ABET-accredited program.
• Must have completed at least your freshman year.
• Graduation date between Fall 2027 - Summer 2028.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with project teams and experienced engineers on planning, designing and executing enterprise resource projects to ensure seamless integration from design to construction.
• Engaging in design reviews, training sessions, knowledge-building projects and constructability assessments to maintain safety and operational standards.
• Participate in field visits to operational facilities to understand power system operations and assist in inspections and tests.
• Assisting in the development and analyses of databases, reports, cost estimates and dashboards to enhance data-driven decision-making.
• Supporting documentation for decision-making processes and initiatives aimed at improving operational performance and safety in our services.
• Embrace AEP’s safety culture by understanding safety guidelines and standards in both office and field environments.
