Job summary

Wichita Public Schools offers a finance internship aligned with the Financial Services Leadership Team. You will learn month-end close processes, journal entries, and budgeting while gaining exposure to audits and reporting across district departments.

You will develop analytical skills, contribute to financial reports, and collaborate with schools and central offices under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school or GED required; pursuing a bachelor’s in accounting or finance is encouraged.
• Advanced computer skills with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; testing may be used.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work with multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Performs Month End Close activities including fixed assets, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Prepares journal entries for schools and programs and supports GAAP & GASB year-end entries.
• Develops effective financial reports and assists in budget data collection.
• Reconciles budgets and enrollment data; supports ad hoc reporting requests.
