Job summary

Kiewit Corporation seeks a Finance Analyst Intern to support project accounting and finance tasks. Responsibilities include cost control, payroll, accounting, and month-end close processes.

You’ll help prepare a financial reporting package for project management and learn how projects operate like a small business. Located in Lenexa, KS or Westlake, TX, the internship offers exposure to diverse projects across the US and opportunities to develop skills in forecasting, budgeting, and compliance

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, and/or equivalent degree.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Travel and/or relocation may be required for this position.
• Experience working with Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other key excel functions is preferred.
• Effective communication (both oral and written), organization and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to freely access all parts of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
• Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship, both now and in the future.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes the importance of being a team player by adapting to project needs.
• Fosters relationships with the Operations team and learns about the work.
• Understands payroll and HR process workflow and masters the systems used to hire, transfer, terminate, and pay all employees.
• Comprehends purchasing workflow, invoicing, and internal controls.
• Understands accounts payable workflow and can troubleshoot payments or vendor issues.
• Understands intercompany and client billing processes and timely billing documentation.
• Ensures that cost and cost adjustments are reviewed to meet standards.
• Reviews forecast and budget issues with the cost report for proper recognition.
• Displays first-rate customer service and teamwork.
• Maintains organized work environment and time management with clear communication.
• Follows Corporate Compliance Program and EE and labor law at project level.
