Job summary

ECS Limited in Austin is seeking a Specialty Technician to join our team, performing field observations and inspections on construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and steel placement. You’ll execute tasks under senior staff and project managers across diverse facilities.

We expect 2+ years of related experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a willingness to obtain two specialty certifications.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of related field experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Willing to obtain 2 specialty certifications from recognized authorities.
• Position requires lifting 40–70 lbs multiple times a day or up to 85 lbs occasionally.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle on job sites.
• Strong communication skills.
• Working knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing principles.
• Good understanding of heavy construction safety practices.
• Ability to perform work at heights.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering/construction plans.
• If NDE focus, calibrate NDE equipment.

Responsibilities

• Field Activities: observations, testing, inspections, and sampling of construction materials.
• Testing Procedures: observe structural steel and reinforcing steel per industry standards.
• Data Collection: calculations and data reduction; maintain field equipment.
• Communication: report site conditions to team and attend meetings as needed.
• Training and Development: receive ECS methodology training and document findings.
