Job summary

City of Houston is seeking a Water Operations Technician for the Houston Water/ Drinking Water Operations. The role covers developing, reviewing and complying with standard procedures, and coordinating plant operations using HMI/SCADA across multiple locations.

The position requires physical work including lifting up to 60 pounds and walking on rough surfaces. Education: high school diploma or GED; no prior experience required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• No experience is required.
• Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants under EO 1-6.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review and comply with standard procedures and tasks requiring analytic ability.
• Coordinate plant operations using HMI with SCADA systems.
• Monitor and maintain equipment and chemical processes at multiple locations.
• Inspect and test working conditions on equipment.
• Communicate and coordinate work with other operators and support personnel by telephone and e-mail.
