General functions of public works include but are not limited to: performing manual labor tasks, operating a variety of motorized and heavy equipment, assisting and maintaining the City's water and wastewater systems in accordance to TCEQ regulations. Applicant is required to be on-call on a rotating schedule and live within a reasonable distance of the City.
Compensation based on experience and applicable water, wastewater, and CDL licensing.

Physical Demands:
- STANDING/WALKING -On uneven terrain, asphalt, concrete, through water, mud, rocks; to work at sites;
- SITTING -To drive to and from job sites;
- LIFTING/CARRYING -Ability to lift up to 75 Pounds. Manhole / storm sewer covers, repair parts, other job related lifting;
- PUSHING/PULLING -Pull pipe in trenches to align; load and unload the truck (see weights above); push and pull dirt from excavated area to backfill over pipe.; to open and close valves
- REACHING -To access overhead valves; reach parts on high shelves; lines and fittings on machinery; operate equipment and use tools; to work with nuts, bolts, clamps and other small parts;
- BENDING/TWISTING -To lay out drainage pipe; load and unload truck; to operate heavy equipment; to operate tools and equipment; to work in manholes, ditches
- CLIMBING/BALANCING -Into and out of excavated areas; into equipment; ladder use
- KNEELING/CROUCHING/CRAWLING -To work in excavated areas, water meter boxes, man holes; drainage structures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be able to multi-task
- Ability to earn Class D TCEQ Water/Wastewater Certifications within 1 year
- Ability to earn Class C TCEQ Water/Wastewater Certifications within 3 years
- Valid Texas driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of experience in or related to the field of water and sewer utilities
- Experience or training in operations of heavy equipment
- Commercial Drivers License
