Job summary

WIN Waste Innovations in Millbury, MA seeks an Assistant Utility Operator to monitor and operate ash and auxiliary plant equipment, ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous plant operations. You will perform maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with the plant team to minimize downtime.

The ideal candidate has mechanical aptitude, willingness to work rotating shifts, and the ability to obtain a Massachusetts Hoisting License (1C/2A) within 9 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Experience: Mechanical abilities sufficient to perform equipment maintenance and minor repair such as replacement of shear pins, valve repacking, strainer cleaning, and general preventative maintenance.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts.
• Must be able to work overtime.
• For the State of Massachusetts, there is a requirement for an Assistant Utility Operator to hold a Massachusetts Hoisting License: 1C/2A or ability to obtain these licenses within 9 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and minor repairs to ash handling and other assigned auxiliary systems.
• Operate plant equipment and systems with assistance and guidance from PO to ensure proper functioning.
• Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicates clearly whether using in-situ intercom system, two-way radio, or face to face.
• Anticipates typical problems, identifies potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action.
• Troubleshoots equipment and assist in diagnosing problem areas.
• Operates other equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment.
• Maintain positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers and management.
