Job summary

Wire 3 in Fort Pierce, FL, seeks a Utility Locator to identify and mark underground utilities ahead of excavation. You’ll use locating equipment and coordinate with crews and authorities to ensure safe, efficient work.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, utility locating certification (NULCA/APWA) or willingness to obtain, and a valid driver’s license. You’ll maintain accurate records and uphold Wire 3’s safety standards on every project.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in utility locating or related field preferred.
• Certification in utility locating (NULCA/APWA) preferred or willing to obtain.
• Familiarity with GIS technology and utility management systems is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• DOT drug and alcohol testing required per 49 CFR Part 382/199.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark underground utilities using detection equipment before excavation.
• Interpret maps and construction plans to identify lines.
• Communicate with project stakeholders about locations.
• Coordinate with OSP Field Supervisor and Construction Manager to keep workflow.
• Maintain records of locations, surveys, and tickets.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company safety programs.
• Respond to locate requests and manage ticket queues.
• Report discrepancies or unlocatable utilities.
• Other duties as assigned.
